Blogmas Day 8.. The Christmas Mushroom!

Have any of you noticed the ever increasing amount of mushrooms popping up with in the Christmas decoration section of the shops?  I first noticed it in Next but I have also come across Mushroom Christmas baubles in quite a few other places ranging from Supermarkets to garden centers.

Anyway as my husband is a little bit of a web research crazy man I sent him on his way to find out about the Christmas Mushroom story, and after ploughing through the rubbish about hallucinogenic mushrooms here is what we found! 

Tradition of the Mushroom. Mushrooms are considered to be a good luck symbol. Associated with nature and the beauty of the forest, finding a mushroom is considered to be very lucky and to mean good fortune is at hand. Mushroom ornaments are displayed on Christmas trees in Germany in honor of the people's reverence for nature and in hope of good luck in the New Year.
